2010 STEVENOT VERMENTINO GRAND RESERVA

The 2010 Stevenot Tuolumne County Vermentino is an example of an Italian variety that has been overlooked in the United States. These grapes were picked on September 27, 2010 crushed and pressed to stainless steel for fermentation. The wine was cold fermented for over 30 days and was left to settle on the yeast (lees) for three months prior to racking. Green apple and orange blossom combined with very bright natural acidity make this a wine that is screaming for raw oysters or shellfish. 2010 STEVENOT CHARDONNAY GRAND RESERVA

The Stevenot Winery Calaveras County Chardonnay is the result of careful selection of perfectly ripe Chardonnay grapes grown in Calaveras County. We picked the grapes on September 12th during the night to keep the fruit nice and cool. The grapes were crushed and pressed to a Stainless Steel tank for settling and inoculation with yeast. Once fermentation began the fermenting juice was racked to French and American oak barrels for “barrel fermentation” that took two weeks to complete. The wine aged on the yeast or “lees” for six months prior to racking and bottling. This wine has great tropical pineapple/mango and orange citrus flavors combined with subtle oak notes from the barrel fermentation. This Sierra Foothill Chardonnay will age for 3-4 years and will go very well with many grilled seafood dishes.

2007 STEVENOT GRAN RESERVA MUSCAT CANELLI

Our locally grown Muscat Canelli is undeniably the most pleasant grape to work with from the vineyard through to the bottle. Distinct flavors of mint and basil make grape sampling in the field a pleasure. As the grapes start to mature, the flavors transform to rich peach and jasmine essence which provide a hint of the end wine we will achieve. Patience is a virtue when dealing with Muscat Canelli, as we wait until the latest possible harvest date, allowing for the highest sugar attainable, and the most concentrated, complexity possible. During fermentation the cellar is filled with scents of wildflowers and honey. The wine itself displays intense rose petal, dried apricot, peach, and mango, with a creamy toffee finish.
